Parenting + Video Games = ?

Back when I was a young (16) I had my TV and my Radio removed from my room as I would use both instead of doing my homework.  I liked staying in my room rather being outside.  Yet when I was grounded and in trouble I wanted to be out in the sun.  I joined after school sports and I was good at it.

This recent story of Brandon Crisp case has me remembering my situation that I explained above.  While I don’t have all the facts I do think that this Brandon didn’t fully communicate with his parents nor did the parents have a open door.  Can I be wrong sure but I didn’t run away when I got grounded and had my things taken away.  I understood why they did and it made me a better person.  Something tells me that this young man felt leaving his home was better.  Could having his console removed from his room cause him to run away?  I feel for the parents and I hope he changes his mind and comes home.

The only issue I have with this sad story is that the cops and media behind the situation are making it sound that COD4 and his console made him run away.  Not the reason why he was grounded or the communication the parents have with the young man.  Go home hug your parents and play COD4 another day.
